Papers of John Wall, Jr. of Tenants Harbor, Maine, including a ledger dated 1878-1881, of accounts of the schooner SARAH POTTER of Saint George, Maine, of which Wall was master; and letters dated December 19, 1881 to November 6, 1882 to Wall regarding the construction of a new schooner. Also included are two lists of prospective owners. The SARAH POTTER was owned by Kilham, Loud and Co. of Boston, Massachusetts.

John Wall, an early settler in the Spanish district of Natchez, received land, granted by the Spanish, in 1795. This land became the Richland Plantation in Wilkinson County, Mississippi. Chauncey Pettibone owned the Richland Plantation from 1820 until he bequeathed it to his children. Chauncey Pettibone was married to Susan Pettibone and had two children, Henry B. and Sarah B.
